Another one-off privately pressed proggy fusion album from the US. so many Unlike others posted here, this one is really beautiful from start to finish and bears repeated listening. As well the spread is quite wide with 80s-style more poppy songs, AOR rock, traditional acoustic prog think early Genesis and then of course the mandatory electric fusion element. I guess it's similar to Ariel Perspectives, truly underrated in my opinion though recall Tom gave that one, deservedly, a priority 1. I'm thinking this must be a concept album too, it really feels like one. Not enough pati. Project Tyme - Clockwyze 1985. ArtistBand: Project Tyme US. Album: Clockwyze. Genre: Progressive Rock. A 4 piece from Iowa, but pressed in Dallas. As such, just like the Ojas album we posted a few days ago, this was a buck bin album in my neck of the woods through to the early 90s. Lead by double neck guitarist Scot Jon Schwestka (mullet is intact and functioning), Project Tyme are mid-80's all the way, with electric drums and warm bass tones. Early 80's Rush seems to be the main inspiration for the compositions. What keeps this from being a laugher, is the guitar work which is quite good actually. Expressive, skillful, energetic and no shred to be found (a common problem in those days). Once you get past the first 2 tracks, the rest is quite good as it's pretty much all instrumental from there on out. The production is excellent considering it's a homemade job. Neat cover art as well. - Groove Collector.com
"Early 80's Rush seems to be the main inspiration for the compositions."- Well, with one song named 'Rush Hour', I think you came close to the truth. This was never released in Sweden (or Europe, even?), but if it had, I'd bought it. Instead, I just DL'd it from Plixid few mins. ago. It's an OK album, but today, sitting here and listening to British IQ's debut 'Tales From the Lush Attic' from 1983, I'm not impressed by Project Tyme, though. Surprised? Yes. But not impressed. Too much selfindulgent jerking off on the guitar for me.
