Nixon is the fifth studio album by American rock band Lambchop. The album was released on February 8, 2000, and became a critical and commercial breakthrough for the band, especially in the United Kingdom, where it polled highly in several year-end polls in music magazines, among them Uncut magazine. The song Up with People was subsequently remixed by Zero 7. Nixon - Lambchop. Nixon is the album when Lambchop became the band people think of as Lambchop, if they think of Lambchop at all: 14 outcasts in denim and pearl buttons, standing onstage and staring at their shoes, playing the pro-social sounds of country and soul with the graceful reluctance of indie rockers too polite to beg for attention but too obstinate to shut up. and go home. I can only imagine that Merges decision to remaster and reissue the album embarrassed them, then made them feel humbled, then a little bit corny-such are the old-fashioned values of Lambchop. Supposedly a concept album about the disgraced 37th president of the United States though the lyrics make no recognizable statements about Richard Nixon's infamous life and times, Lambchop's fifth full-length was a powerful consolidation of the strengths they'd gained since their uncertain debut in 1994. Critten This is one of Lambchop's masterpieces - an idyllic landscape of chiming guitars and sweeping strings rendered in Technicolor, bound by Kurt Wagner's wistful voice. What more could you ask for in an album Also, this album's lyrics, especially in the chorus of Nashville Parent, are consistently brilliant. Favorite track: Up With People. Band Name Lambchop. Absolutely incredible sounding press. Sold for just 12.50 EUR at Juno Records. Buy it while it's out there.
In my opinion a fairly good pressing that sounds slightly better than the cd. Very scanty clicks on side B with little effect on the listening. I wish they had used the cd cover instead of this subpar lp version. A minor quibble is the lack of polyvinyl inner jacket but overall a fine release.
