On the Border is the third studio album by American rock group the Eagles, released in 1974. Apart from two songs produced by Glyn Johns, it was produced by Bill Szymczyk because the group wanted a more rockoriented sound instead of the country-rock feel of the first two albums. It is the first Eagles album to feature guitarist Don Felder. On the Border reached number 17 on the Billboard album chart and has sold two million copies. On the Border. 10 tracks 40:25. The crossover album from Country to Rock for this seminal 70's band. Perhaps their most important album in terms of creativity, the band members were masters at their country foundations but this represented a brave new world and risked their very existence as a popular, if predictable, soft country rock band into something a bit more adventurous. And whilst they never aspired to Led Zepplin esq. standards, this album carved a unique niche which is unlikely to be replicated. Album 1974 10 Songs. Their third album, On the Border, beautifully joins all their different musical strands. On the rollicking Midnight Flyer, Bernie Leadon's banjo evokes the fingerpicking bluegrass of Earl Scruggs, while Don Felder channels Duane Allman for his slide solo on the soaring rocker Already Gone. The only thing we love more than hearing each Eagle's taste shine through is how the groups voices come together for those smooth, sweet harmonies. On The Border Baseball Tee.
